How much money do you need to retire?

Many people worry they won’t have enough money for a comfortable retirement. Yet, only 41 percent have tried to calculate an actual dollar figure for that goal, says the Employee Benefits Research Institute (EBRI). And, while there’s no exact “right” number that works for everyone, a few financial exercises and guidelines can give you a good ballpark number to target.
